Brief Summary in Lay Language

The goal of the study is the examination of different aspects of time perception in children and adolescents suffering from ADHD and ADD. The crucial question of the study is whether children and adolescents with AD(H)D show an altered time perception. 40 children and adolescents should take part in this study. They should be in the age between 13 and 17 years. The examination of time perception will be done by a computer software.

Brief Summary in Scientific Language

According to the triple pathway model, deficits in temporal processing may represent a primary cause of the key symptoms of ADHD. A recent study has indicated the presence of a faster internal clock in subjects with ADHD.
Different components of time perception were addressed in this study, e.g. verbal time estimation, duration discrimination and reproduction of time durations. The results may help to enhance the validity of diagnostic process.
Participants of the study are 40 children and adolescents with AD(H)D in the age of 13 to 17 years. Time perception will be tested by a a special software. A possible bias of medication should be controlled.
