Brief Summary in Lay Language

The aim of the study is the psychometrically examination of the questionnaire "Test inventory of autoaggressive and external aggressive behavior" and the selection of the items of the final version. For this purpose, the questionnaire is given to patients at a psychosomatic rehabilitation clinic before and after a five- to a six-week hospital stay. The aim of the study is to select the specific items out of a total number of 72 items, which are best suited to detect aggressive behavioral tendencies. A secondary research question focusses the sense of coherence. It will be examined if the sense of coherence influences the treatment success and if the sence of coherence changes in the course of the therapy.

Brief Summary in Scientific Language

The aim of the study is thepsychometrically examination of the questionnaire "Test inventory of autoaggressive and external aggressive behavior" and the selection of the items. The selection of the items will be based on item difficulty, Item-total correlation, the influence of the single items on internal consistency and the fit of the items into the factor structure. The aims is the creation of a final version of the "Test inventory of autoaggressive and extraneously aggressive behavior" with approximately 48 Items. Also, the association of the (auto)aggressive tendencies with external measures, such as the therapy outcome and the symptom severity is examined. For this purpose, the "Test inventory of autoaggressive and external aggressive behavior" and symptom questionnaires are given to patients at a psychosomatic rehabilitation clinic before and after a five- to six-week hospital stay.
A secondary research question focusses the sense of coherence. It will be examined if the sense of coherence influences the treatment success and if the sence of coherence changes in the course of the therapy. Therefore both the sense of coherence scale from Antonovsky (1993) and the sense of coherence scale from Bachem and Maerker will be used.

Primary Outcome

Selection of items for the final version of the "Test inventory of autoaggressive and external aggressive behavior" based on item difficulty, Item-total correlation, the influence of the single items on internal consistency and the fit of the items into the factor structure. Creation of a final version of the "Test inventory of autoaggressive and extraneously aggressive behavior". The selection is made on the basis of the first measurement point at the beginning of the hospital stay.

end of 1:1-Block primary endpoint
start of 1:1-Block secondary endpoint

Secondary Outcome

Examination of the association between the (auto)aggressive tendencies with the severity of mental symptoms. Examination of the relationship between the (auto)aggressive tendencies and the therapy outcome. For this purpose, the aggressive tendencies will be examined using the "Test inventory of autoaggressive and external aggressive behavior", the general symptom burden will be examined using the HEALTH-49 and the disorder-specific symptoms will be examined using disorder-specific questionnaires such as the Beck Depression Inventory Revision. The questionnaires will be given at the beginning, and the end of the clinic stay. Examination of differences in the manifestation of aggressive behavior tendencies between different mental disorders. Examination if the sense of coherence influences the treatment success and if the sence of coherence changes in the course of the therapy. Therefore both the sense of coherence scale from Antonovsky (1993) and the sense of coherence scale from Bachem and Maerker will be used.
