Brief Summary in Scientific Language

In this prospective clinical trial we analyze the influence of a realtime-feedbacksystem on the quality of out-of-hospital resuscitation regarding to compression depth, -rate and pauses in compression. This trial is built up in three phases: In the first phase the patient will be resuscitated according to the guidelines without feedback system. The compression rate and times without compression will be derived from the ECG. In the second phase we use the accelerometer of the feedback system to measure the compression depth, but no realtime-feedback will be shown on the monitor. Compression rate and pauses in compression will be recorded as well. This phase is carried out to analyze whether the fact of putting a new device into resuscitation changes quality of resuscitation. In the third phase will be used the feedback-system as well and a realtime-feedback is shown on the monitor. Finally we compare the three phases regarding to the quality parameters compression depth, -rate and pauses in compression. Additionally we analyze descriptively if the short time survival (ROSC at hospital admission) will be influenced by a Realtime-feedbacksystem.

  •   Patients will be resuscitated according to the European Resuscitations Council guidelines.
  •   Patients will be resuscitated according to the European Resuscitations Council guidelines. The Accelerometer of the Realtime-feedbacksystem will be used, but without showing a realtime-feedback on the monitor.

Primary Outcome

1.1. Does a realtime-feedbacksystem influences the quality of resuscitation (compression depth, compression rate and pauses in chest compression). 1.2. Accomplishing the European Resuscitation Councils (ERC) standards regarding compression depth, compression rate and pauses in chest compression.

Additional Inclusion Criteria

All patients who will be resuscitated out of hospital by the EMS (emergency medical service) of the county of Osnabrück (Niedersachsen, Germany).

Exclusion Criteria

All patients with a traumatic cardiac arrest or patient who are resuscitated shorter than 1 minute will be excluded. Prisoners will be excluded as well.
