Brief Summary in Lay Language

Poliglobulia describes a pathologically elevated amount of red blood blodies (hemoglobin). It is found in about 5% of patients with hemangioblastomas in the central nervous system. It is therefore higher than in the normal population. The cause of this elevated amount has so far not been discovered. In literature causes such as elevated EPO-levels, solid tumor size as well as tumor associated cysts are discussed.
The aim of this study is to investigate those facots mentioned above (EPO-levels, size of solid tumor, number and size of associated tumor cysts) in patients with hemangioblatomas of the CNS in regard of poliglobulia.
Therefore we will retrospectively collect the data of all patients with hemangioblatomas where EPO levles were measured between 2009 and 2012. Then collection of data such as: EPO Level, Hb-level, number and size of hemangioblastomas and number and size of tumor cysts at the same time point. Then statistcal analysis of the above factors.

Exclusion Criteria

THose patients who could have elevated or low HB or EPO levels dur to other causes such as anemia, COPD, smoking, exposure to high altitude.
