Trial Description
Title
Effects of an electronic checklist as a teaching-tool for novices to learn structured and safe general anaesthesia induction
Trial Acronym
TeachCheck
URL of the Trial
[---]*
Brief Summary in Lay Language
We hypothesize that using a structured electronic checklist as a teaching-tool ("TeachCheck") for novices will have a lasting effect on the safety relevant behaviour during general anaesthesia induction. In the first weeks of the anaesthesia residency program the intervention-group uses "TeachCheck" additionally during 75 inductions of general anaesthesia. The control-group gets a conventional initial training containing instruction and supervision during every induction of anaesthesia by faculty members. At the end of the initial training as well as four and eight weeks later we record two inductions and evaluate the number of safety relevant items, team performance and duration of the procedure.
