Brief Summary in Lay Language
The multimodal therapy at the Clinic of Complementary and Intergrative Medicine is based on conventional medicine and additionally uses classical naturopathic principles of complementary medicine. Neuraltherapy is such a therapeutic option that is applied within the framework of the inpatient stay.
Neuraltherapy can be described as the use of local anesthetics for the diagnosis and therapy of acute and chronic diseases. It has a comprehensive field of application: chronic pain diseases with an orthopedic (arthritis, fibromyalgia) or neurologic cause (migraine, tension headache) are treated as well as internistic diagnoses (chronic inflammatory bowel diseases, irritable colon syndrome, asthma)-
The therapeutic success and the patients' perception are individually variable. There is so far no systematic documentation and analysis of individual of patients treated with neuraltherapy.
The presented project comprises qualitative semistructured in-depth interviews regarding the individual experiences with patients treated with neuraltherapy during their inpatient stay at the Clinic of Complementary and Intergrative Medicine.
The interviews aim at possibly perceived cognitive, emotional and physiological effects. A total of max. 30 patients will be interviewed. The subjective perception of the symptoms, the attitude towards the treatment and the influence of the therapy on their behaviour will be in the focus.
