Brief Summary in Lay Language

In the treatment of persons with psychic disorders, especially with complex disorders, multimodal and wholistic treatment concepts have proved effective and become more important, including religious and/ or spiritual needs and behaviors of patients. The role of such needs and behaviors calls for differentiated investigation. In a first step, such investigation asks patients about the personal meaning of their religion and/ or spirituality (Re/S). How important is Re/S for their coping with disease and which needs of Re/S do they have?
This research project aims at a differentiated survey among patients with PTSD (F43.1 ICD-10), especially among soldiers and veterans after military interventions and other groups for comparison.
The research design is open, prospective, multi-disciplinary, explorative, anonymous and cross-sectional using standardized questionnaires. No other interventions are planned.
Descriptive statistics and inferential statistics will provide new knowledge and stimulate additional hypotheses and further research. This study will contribute to improvement of perception and adequate integration of Re/S in treatment contexts - both as resource and as hazard.
