URL of the Trial

Brief Summary in Lay Language
What do nurses do when they provide activating therapeutic care in neurological early rehabilitation? This question is gaining relevance with regard to the billing of neurological early rehabilitation services. The billing of services is dependent on fulfilling the minimal criteria as determined in a sub-paragraph of a special coding system. There, it is stated that activating therapeutic care must be carried out by specially trained personnel. For this reason, the cost bearers are pressing for the provision and documentation of these services. At present, various hospitals use differing catalogues for the documentation of therapeutic care in neurological early rehabilitation. Tend to be based only upon experience and practical consideration, the BDH Bundesverband Rehabilitation e.V. has established a scholarship in nursing science to scientifically examine therapeutic care in neurological early rehabilitation. The aim of the study is to develop a theory of therapeutic care in neurological early rehabilitation. In order to achieve the study's aim, an open, participatory observation will be conducted.
All nurses working in the five clinics of the BDH Bundesverband Rehabilitation e. V. are potenial participants.
Furthermore episodic interviews with nursing staff, which were not observerd, will be conducted, to obtain more specific informations about therapeutic care.
Brief Summary in Scientific Language
What do nurses do when they provide activating therapeutic care in neurological early rehabilitation? This question is gaining relevance with regard to the billing of neurological early rehabilitation services in the G-DRG system. The billing of services is dependent on fulfilling the minimal criteria as determined in sub-paragraph 8-552 of the operations and procedures coding system (OPS). The study is based on the methodology of grounded theory of Glaser and Strauss (1967) and will be carried out in the time frame of 01.10.2010 to 30.09.2013.
